Fell off the wagon

Well Christmas time was hard. I totally fell off the wagon. Drank Pepsi, ate many sweets, lots of gluten enriched finger foods. :-(. I find it sad that i miss those foods even though I know, by past experience,  what they do to me.

I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. In the mornings I have been having 3 eggs scrambled cooked in Coconut oil, with a bit of mozzarella and ham thrown in, some days, time dependent, I add bacon to the mix. For a drink I have Kaizen Choc protein powder from Costco mixed with almond milk, blueberries, chia seeds, banana, a touch of honey, and sometimes yogurt. Yum!

I find this helps me to make it most of the day without needing much food. Generally after about 5 hrs I have an apple or a banana, most days.

Supper usually involves Meat. lately Beef. I managed to find some local beef for $2.25 a pound and it is delicious. A friend an I went 1/2 on a side. I highly recommend you go out and talk to your local butcher and see what they charge. You can save so much money buying a side or a quarter.

Did Grok Cut down trees?

Monday past on Thanksgiving I had 4 cords of 16 foot firewood delivered to my house. I really enjoy the exercise and the satisfaction from cutting and splitting my own. I also believe it give me a real strength that I cannot get at the gym. Yesterday I spent the whole day Cutting the wood into 18" lengths and splitting some.

Last year I split and cut it all. It seemed to take forever :-) This year I have 2 people offer to lend me their wood splitters, So I think I will take them up on their offer for the bigger pieces with lots of knots.

So I got to thinking yesterday. Did Grok cut trees? Maybe to build a shelter? but probably not for firewood. probably already down and ready to burn.

By 5pm I was super sore and pretty tired after a full day at the pile. For breakfast I had my usual 3 eggs, bacon, whey shake and chia seeds. At lunch time I began to feel tired and went in and had a Banana. around 3pm I crawled onto the kids trampoline and had a little power nap in the sun.

Mark's new book is going to be released next Tuesday, 21 day guide. I can't wait. I'll have a link to it here on Tuesday.

Eat it, But you are gonna pay for it!

So True!Until I began to eat Primaly I never really understood how food could affect you so easily. Yesterday I fell off the wagon and had some regular Lays chips and I have a few Rye and Pepsi. YUM!!!

Today, I pay for it.

When I woke up this morning and got up for my regular morning ritual. My feet hurt. Some thing that I had not felt in a while and that I knew instantly had something to do with what I hate ate the day before. The only things that were out of my normal Primal Diet were Pepsi or Rye or Chips.

For a long time I had that sore feet  in the morning. I had totally forgot about that feeling till I stood up this morning. Instantly I thought what caused this? I give thanks to Mark Sissons book Primal Blueprint for helping me to understand this.

I am amazed the more I eat primaly the more I notice. If I eat something that is not good for me. My body is not long telling me. Just amazes me that more people dont' already know that they should eat this way. All these products we see on TV and we are lead to believe that they are good for you.

Say NO to grains. Say NO to Sugar. Say NO to processed foods.

Grok ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Marks Daily Apple post

Amazing results. When I started following the Primal Blueprint I wasn't sure I could do it. 22 lbs proves I can do it too :-) Thanks Mark and Forumites!

I use to drink 3-4 cans of Pepsi a day and ate at least 2 sandwiches (white bread) and a roll with supper. I ate chocolate covered granola bars and choc chip cookies all the time. Since I have been following this I have been eating only fruit, veggies and Meat. I only drink water. I have been going to the gym at the fire hall where I volunteer and doing 2 25 minute heavy weight I walk all the time anyway. I have not worked the sprinting in yet but I will.

I have much more energy. In the mornings I'll have 2 eggs and bacon and a whey shake with chia seeds in it. That keeps me going for usually 6 hrs. I only eat when I'm hungry so usually just breakfast and supper time. I f I get a hunger need 1/2 way through the day I find a good piece of fruit usually fills me and I'm good to go till supper time. Amazing! Supper is usually something from the slow cooker or on of the recipes from the site. I find the slow cooker has really become my friend :-)

I love that I no longer have sugar crashes. Absolutely LOVE IT. My carbs are always under 150 and my protein content is always high. I use to do some yard work then come in have a pepsi and some cookies because I was tired. Then head back out and back out for another 1hr. Sugar crash. come back in have another snack. That is all gone. I can go out and work for hours and hours without feeling the need to stop. Other than to stop and take inventory.

I have also started taking multi vitamins, Omega 3 and Vitamin D (on the days i'm not outside).

I asked my boss for a stand up desk as I have the energy to stand all day. It was a bit getting use to. At 1st I stood 1/2 of the day and not I last the whole 12 hr shift only sitting to relax once in a while.

I am amazed how quick I seemed to switch over from carb burning to fat burning. Well that what I feel has happened.

This has definitely been a life changing experience. Thanks for writing the book Mark!!!!!!

No Pepsi, No bread, No Sugar, No Gluten

Well it's been a few weeks now and I'm feeling good! I do miss my Pepsi but I now more than ever see the effects it had on me. I can visually see how my fat is melting away in the mirror. My weight is down 15 lbs but I believe I have been gaining muscle mass. Here is what I've been doing in short:

Eat a big breakfast, 3 eggs,5 strips of bacon and a Whey shake with Chia seeds.

Heavy lifting twice a week at the fire hall for 25 minutes each session

I now have a desk at work that I can stand or sit at. I can stand and work :-)

I walk allot I strive for 5 hrs a week of walking. Gotta get that flow of HDLs to battle the LDLs.

I educated myself by reading "Primal Blueprint" and www.marksdailyapple.com

I find my memory in the last 2 weeks has improved. and my stress level is better. I am finding myself a bit short fused but I'm thinking there may be an increase in testosterone or the "Living like a caveman" is going to my head a bit? I also find myself being more protective of the people around me. Weird that I'd notice that?

Deciding what to bring to work for lunch sucks! I miss the old easy PB and J sandwiches or the wraps. But I'm getting better at figuring it out.

I have not made the cross over to Organic yet but I know I will. There are so many toxins in our daily food. The more I learn the more I can't believe that the Gov't allows it.

That's my ramble for today :-)

Back on track!!!

Well today I feel I have regained where I was before I had the beer on the weekend. I had my big breakfast this morning and I did not get hungry till 7pm. yayyyyy. Does that mean I'm fat burning all day? I didn't crave sugar. Or did I eat too much in the morning and my body is processing that slowly? time will tell.

I still need to get on a set of scales. I feel that I have lost weight. I also feel stronger but that is because I have been going to the gym and I'm eating better.

As far a sleep I find that I need to go to bed earlier. When I do I go right to sleep. I find when I wake around 7 or 8am I have to get up because I'm awake and I feel rested.

I like this much better than I was before. I like the good sleeps and the much better energy. I do find there are some kind of memory issues going on but that could be normal? lol.

Yesterday I introduced Coconut Oil into my diet. There was no taste to it and I found my eggs cooked quite well in it. I think I felt some extra energy from it?

Primal Beer Ugh!

I was getting use to eating twice a day. Then on the weekend we went to the Gagetown fair and I fell into the 80% rule. I had a hamburger from the fair grounds. I was hungry and it seemed to be the healthiest of all that was available :-( On Sunday I was lazing around our camper watching the kids and reading "Primal Blueprint" and I thought I'd try a beer or 3 :-) Yum.

On Monday I felt it. I had my normal big breakfast of eggs, bacon, ISO shake and Chia seeds and by lunch time I was really hungry. I was thinking to myself. Oh No what have I done? I ruined a good thing. I was hungry most of the afternoon. :-( I was getting use to eating Breakfast and supper and no real need in between except a snack of grapes or and apple to keep me going.

This morning started with my regular breakfast and I loaded my lunch with snacks. Lets hope I can back on track.

Last Thursday and Friday I did not have my kids as they were with their Mom, so I decided to clear some land around my house. for those 2 days I ate my regular breakfast and one supper I had a slow cooked  pork roast and the other a slow cooked beef roast. both were delicious and sooo easy to make. I worked my ass off both days. Cutting down trees with the chainsaw, clearing away the brush, then cutting them into 18 inch length, splitting them and then using my atv to haul the wood up next to the house to pile it. Usually during that kind of work I would play out after and hour and just go inside and carb up and come back out. Not anymore. I'm loving the Primal way. so much sustained slow burn energy. No more Highs and lows.

At the end of the day 2 (Friday) I was no longer picking up the wood and setting it onto a stump to split. I just split them where they lay :-) Still amazed I had the energy to do that 2 days in a row. It's been 3 days since I did that work and I did not get a full day of soreness like I use to get. Was that a gluten thing? I know whan I worked physically hard before, two days later I would be wicket sore for a whole day. Maybe this is part of the Primal Blueprint?

I no longer miss Pepsi. I do miss my Pepsi and Canadian club, so yummy! but after having beer on the weekend and I think that messed up my rhythm :-) so I'm going to put more time into getting use to this way of life before I mess with the 80% rule. Let my body adjust to being a fat burner and not a sugar burner.
